On another level, protective presence might describe the inner, spiritual refuge that true presence offers practitioners of mindfulness who choose to engage in political nonviolence.

Our Protective presence series began with Protective Presence in the West Bank
with Katie Loncke. Katie spent over two weeks in the West Bank, serving as a protective presence for Palestinian families.
Katie describes protective presence as the following:
A beautiful phrase, perhaps with a double meaning. On the surface, protective presence describes a tried-and-true political activity of strategic nonviolent accompaniment, where the privilege and presence of outsiders means protection for locals.
On another level, protective presence might describe the inner, spiritual refuge that true presence offers practitioners of mindfulness who choose to engage in political nonviolence.
Our second conversation in this series is Protective Presence for Abortion Access
with Angela Hume. Angela is the author of Deep Care; the radical activists who provided abortions, defied the law, and fought to keep clinics open. Two activists, Brenda Cummings and Lizzie Chadbourne will join us.
